I am a newbie and I just bought a 1981 JX650 Maxim. I have seen references to a bike called the Midnight Maxim. How is this bike different from a regular maxim and how can I tell if I have one?

I think the engine is painted black, possibly along with other frame parts?

Someone will correct me i'm sure :)

Nothing wrong with the "regular old maxim". Mine (used to be) a "regular old maxim". A great bike and your possibilities are endless.

my bike started life as a midnight, but now its a custom, hardly anything left on it to tell you it ever was, its depressing, but for 500 bucks and ride it home, ill take it.
