xj650 mods

    Well came home yesterday and my son started working on the xj650.
    he had the rear seat frame cut and a mock up set of drag bars. took a old solo seat and the bobber/brat bike begins. on a quick note the rear fenders mounting bracket is right by the shock studs. could i drill out the shock stud and use a bolt to go through the frame,shock and rear fender? also want to lower the back shocks from 12 1/2 to 11" any suggestions? here are some pics
