Hi, dumb question. Want to replace the fork oil. After propping up front end, and removal of the rubber covers, all I see are two round disks, which I cannot depress to get at the circlip. What am I missing here? many years ago, I did pay a private shop to replace my fork springs with some aftermarket models. My bike does not have the air-filled forks like the 750 Seca. thanks.

Here is a link to the photo of the fork

The disc won't pry out without the circlip being removed.

I couldn't get the big version of your picture up, but it looks like it's still in the triple tree. The top pinch bolt can squeeze the tube enough to bind the disc.

Get that top tree bolt loose before you try to depress as Carl suggests.

There are many ways to perform the circlip removal process.
Mine is not the easiest, easy would be cheating ;)
But it is effective, and it will Getter Done

The top plug needs to be depressed.
While this plug is being pushed down you will see a retaining circlip

The trick is... the circlip must be removed WHILE holding the plug in.
A small electrical flat head screw driver works well to remove the circlip. Even using two screw drivers works well if you have the ability to multi-task.

Me...I used a 1/2 socket wrench with a 9" extention. I placed this tool against my sholder to depress the plug. That left me with two free hands to manuver the two small screwdrivers

Gamuru has a thread in XJ FAQ Suggestions section on replacing fork seals. That same clip needs to be removed for the seals.

In his documentation he shows using a bar clamp to compress the disc. Looks much easier on the shoulder.
