hi to all xj buffs, i got a couple o questions, first off, i got a xj650rj seca, gonna restore it, had one way back in 1985 in england. it is a silver model, quartz silver, need to know best way to paint, particular base coat, colour match, all that good stuff...you might think it crazy, i got no title, bought as parts bike, too good to part out, will any of the other xj650 frames be compatible, mine is a 5V2,, lastly,, any idea about fitting an oil cooler, i have had a ton of bikes and the xj was the sweetest of the lot, a rare machine here in USA, all input greatly appreciated,,

PM Chacal (Len) He has the paint and the codes for these bikes. A link to his catalog is in the upper right corner of the page XJ$EVER.

Depending on where you live now, a salvage /constructor title might be the way to go.

The R frame is not the same as the Maxims. Here in the States, the 650 Seca was a one-year bike, 1982 only. They only came in silver in the USA; the Canadian models were red.

EVERYBODY else got the oil cooler anyway, it isn't a difficult retrofit. Plus Lockhart made a very nice kit (or even still might.)

I'm planning on doing mine in the red scheme, BTW.

thanks for the info,..might try going thru a title company, .. ITS.TITLES, or something like that, unbelievable to me that USA importers only got one year of these fine motorcycles, we had them in europe from 1981-1985, came in silver, red, blue , and black. anybody interested in parts should check ebay.de, the german ebay, hundreds of parts, , sitzbang is seats, auspuff is exhausts, and many more items, just love the 8 inch headlight.
