I just got this thing all cleaned up, carbs, etc, etc.

so, hit the starter button, and she fires right over. Then the starter just starts to spin, no engaging. On occasion, it will engage, but then nothing. I replaced the starter and still nothing, occasional engagement.

I haven't run up on this before, so any help would be appreciated.

The bike has 11530 on the clock.

    The whole bike is broke.
I'll give you $400 if you deliver it.

    OH>>>>WAIT, it's an airhead. Ok, I'll give you 350

Hope it's not the starter clutch acting up but that's what it sounds like.

Bring it up and we'll split the cases. I only have three on the floor right now but yours isn't black so we can tell the difference!

Sounds like the starter clutch is unhappy, get with Mike and get it rebuilt/replaced.

strange thing happened, I swapped the starter and no joy, tried another, no joy.

I put the crank case breather back on, cleaned out the starter switch, charged the battery, and voila, it hasn't done it since. I'm wondering if there wasn't enough juice to turn the starter completely.

I've got the bike running now, although I think the fuel enrichment circuits may be dirty, and with broken ribs, carbs on and off are not fun. Runs like a champ though. Needs a carb sync, but all appears well

Mike, I if I sold the luggage rack and back rest, I'd come out ahead with your offer!

Tires are next, pirellis to be ordered tomorrow, then comes the polishing and road testing portion. She's going to be one of the prettiest girls on CL next week
