Hey I'm back and in need of some advice. I got an airbox for my xj700x but I'm having a hard time putting it back in the bike. Anyone know how I can get this little bugger in without moving the engine? I've tried removing the starter, and I get it close but still no luck.

    Kol25stray,

I put mine in from the left side once the started was removed. It will go in but I would get a hair drier or paint stripper gun on low and get the air box a little sort. If you force it, she will crack when it goes in. I found that a constant pressure was best, if you tr to hit it in or jar it in, that is when the plastic has a good chance of failing and brake something.

I use ratchet straps when I install carburetors and I would think that would work with the air box as well. If you have a good wide ratchet strap and find a good anchor place on the bike for the hooks, that might be the way to go. That would be a constant even pressure that might let you pressure that air box back in.

There are a few more X owners that will chime in soon. Hope this helps.

I got it in, took some time and I got a couple of hurt fingers but all good now. Just need to get my carbs from the shop and I'll be good to go. Ty for the help. Also for anyone who searches this I removed the starter and the tube for the coolant pump, along with the drip tube and chrome covers to get it to fit.
