I'm about to start tearing into my '85 Maxim X and completely redo it from the ground up. One of the things that has really bugged me about the bike is the ugly rear rim. I noticed that the regular XJ700's have a rear rim that actually matches the front and was wondering if it's a direct swap. Has anyone done this? I have a feeling that the non-X version of the XJ700 might have a smaller brake drum on it...

I've done it. It's a straight swap, but I think I kept the brake drum with the respective wheels... I have some pics too, if you're interested.

Yea, I'd love to see some pics. I think it would look so much better with a matching set of rims.

Ohhhh... You wanted matching rims. Well, I've got pics of my X with an airhead rear wheel, but not with the matching front I'm afraid.

Sorry I got your hopes up, but here it is anyway...
