Does anyone know where to get the "Maxim" side cover emblems?

    Does anyone 3D print them?

The used ones for sale look pretty rough, missing much of the gold plating.

someone had 3D printed the Yamaha tank emblem. Don't recall if it was here, facebook or another Yamaha site.
I'll see if I can dig it up if someone does not post first

I have played around with creating the CAD and 3D printing versions of the 650 side badge. The problem is, even if you get a perfect print, how do you finish it to get that perfect chrome or gold chrome appearance? And if you have to have to do all that work, why not just refinish an original?

@chacal sells repops. Saves lots of time and frustration.

That is the kicker with this stuff, is it worth it to spend HOURS making it look the way you want or spend the $ on something someone else did.

I have the original emblems for my XS650 that I am contemplating putting back on after I repaint the tank/side panels. I'm going to be cleaning them up first.
Trouble with what you see on ebay is you have to buy them to clean them up.

As far as 3D printed. There are ways to spend time smoothening them out, then painting. that thread I reference he used chrome mylar sheet.
the recessed part is a different story and of course, this would take hours to make it look good.

I experimented with chrome paint for a 3D printed boat part. I used Krylon Chrome. It came out ok and It would have looked better if I sanded, then epoxy coated it first, (there are brush on coats for 3D printing) but I saw a video where the guy tested different stuff and it was Revell model chrome spray that won.
I don't know if Revell has Gold Chrome, I know Krylon does.
