    Hi everyone,

I need some help trying to figure out what the manufactured month and year for my xj750j.
I am repainting my frame and want to make a new VIN Label.
The old lable have the manufactured month and year torn off.
Was wondering if someone has a bike with the frame# close to mines, I can make an intellegent guess.

    My frame# 15R-013655

    I have a friend with frame# 15R-000817 with 12/81 as manufactured date.

    Please anyone help!
Anyone who step up I can make a VIN Label for them for free.

    Thanks in advance.

Since it says J you know it's an '82. Any late month from '81 or 'early '82 would suffice.

I ran into the same problem, half of my VIN sticker was shredded off and the guys here were able to help since I was not good at deciphering the code. How do you go about making new VIN Labels??

Thanks for reply everyone. I guess I make up a month I like best in 1982.

I use a graphic editor like photoshop and print it on a blank vinyle sticker. I just type in what it says and put about the same amount of spaces in between the letters and match up the font style and size as best as I can. Size the graphic to about 4.187" x 1.125" with a border for cutting after the printing is done. Spray some rust-oleum high heat clear coat to help make it last, wait for it to dry and apply the sticker. I'll upload some before and after pics when I get my frame back from powder coating next week.

Test print on paper before printing on the expensive $1 per sheet vinyl.

Or you get a new blank reproduction sticker from xj4ever and type in the blanks-----

Just make sure to use a month early enough not to be an '83 model----

I was looking around to see how much it was to make a vin lable, found a site called BDesigns, they would reproduce the vin label for around $76. Too much for a peice of sticker. I can print a whole buch myself for that much. Just need a good picture editor program and a printer. Can get a few sheets of blank vinyl sticker for about $10 at the local office depot.

But, what you learn, it's not always true! Although we do have quite a few reproduction decals available, those VIN decals ain't one of them. Done enuf jail time in my life already :)

Oh, my bad-- I thought I had seen blank ones. Now I gotta figure out where I saw them then. Of course, if I can remember, I guess I'd better not tell then either!! Lol

Hello stelvio996, you would get more replies if you start your own topic with an appropriate title in maybe ' hangout lounge ' rather than in this thread.
