Hi. Happy to be part of the community.
I bought myself a beauty (IMO) modified xj900 1984. Living in Europe i need to legalize a few things so it can be roadworthy.
The airbox was replaced with pods but i need to bring it back temporarily for the test, but need to modify it significantly as i now have a mono rear suspension and no place for the OEM airbox. Had anyone used an airbox from a diversion into a seca? As it appears smaller and i can still possibly make some cuts to make it fit and “appear” OEM. If anyone has suggestions i would most welcome it. Thank you. IMG_7765.jpeg

    That's one sexy looking bike!
Although I'd hate to ride it, my back and my backside would complain.

I don't really see any airbox being applicable with that monosohock in the same spot.

Jigsaw, heat gun, maybe a soldering iron. Oughta make something fit for the pits.

Why would they care about the pods though?

Thx. The European standards are stricter than in the UsA and so pods are not allowed. I finally got the paperwork to legalize most of the works though. Still final touches left. I will try to craft something in the next month with the airbox and post it. Until now, been riding around a parking lot to avoid fines.

Wow. I guess Europe worked out pods make XJs hard to tune.
    Sorry flippant humour.
    Good luck!

Welcome! Interesting looking bike. A lot of work was put into it. Any idea what bike donated it's front suspension?

Welcome. I would try to find an original air box and use the front and rubber inserts, make up the rest of the box off that. Make sure to add a flowed inlet somewhere near the top, under the seat. Will you have a filter in there? I would.
