    Hi all,
I'm a just about to purchase a genuine Yamaha petcock which is listed for the XJ900.. The part number is: 1 - 31A-24500-02.
It looks exactly the same as the one currently on my XJ650.
Can anyone confirm that it will fit.?
I know that lots of Yamaha bits are interchangeable but just want to be sure.
    As always, thanks again,
    Morg.

I will confirm that it WON'T fit. They look the same, but they are different sizes. The 'oval' is smaller on the 650, so the bolts are closer together.

The 900 will interchange with the 85/86 700/750/X, though!

    Thank you very much hogfiddles.
You just saved me a headache.
Can you tell me if the petcock from an 82 XJ750 Seca will fit my 650.?
    The part number is: 5G2-24500-01
    Thanks again,
    Morg.

I'll check a couple tanks this afternoon when I go back out to the shop......spent the morning in a salvage yard, pulling parts for my car. It's 95 out in the yard at noon, I just got home. Gonna pour a cold glass, sit down and probably take a nap. Then I'll go check.

I THINK they are the same, though..........

That's because all the rain fell here in June............34 inches of rain from 1st week of June to 1st week of July-----

Anyway............here's what I see, looking at my tanks.

the 650 and 750 petcocks will interchange with each other.....I believe the 550 will, also.

The 85/86 petcock will interchange with the 900rk.

    Thanks hogfiddles,
I just bought a genuine NOS Yamaha petcock for 23 sterling. The petcock repair kit cost me more and didnt seem to work even after following bigfitz's excellent step by step guide.
Rain on its way. Time for poxy rain gear.
