Just curious if anyone has ridden one how well you think they perform. Ive had people who owned smaller bikes ride mine and think it was pretty powerful.. I think its not too bad but it dont seem like its really fast. Mines a 550.. the viragos are 250.. do they have a whole lot less power?

Im asking because they are pretty cheap and good looking bikes in my opinion.. but if its gonna be alot less powerful than the one I got ill just keep mine. Let me know your opinions.. I didnt even think to ask the dealership if you could test ride them.. I just assume not because none of their bikes have any miles on them.

250 Viragos are OK for a beginner bike, but they're so slow they're dangerous. They have no business whatsoever on the freeway.

If you want a decent little bike, go find a good used EX250

250's can be great around-town bikes, but like bosozoku said - it's way too small for any serious use. Good first bike, or a learner though.

Best mix of smaller size and decent power for a rider with a couple of years experience would be in the 600 range -- 550's, 650's, 750's etc...

I had an XS400 and it was just, and I mean just, ridable on the highway. SO I would assume that the 250 would be just too small. Like everyone else said. 550 and up are just the right size, small enough for in town, and big enough to do some serious riding

Those Baby Virago's are a Father's dream for giving their kid a learner's bike.

The engine's in those bikes are: Rolls-Kinardley's

"Rolls - downhill with ease ...
    Kin-hardley get-up small grades without pushin' "

    Say Goodnight, Gracie!

    LOL Rick - goodnight.

Just one point that was already made - the ex250 (ninja250) is a real highway capable bike. Don't let displacement fool you. The virago 250 is a bit sluggish and probably wouldn't be the ideal highway bike. The real numbers to look at are the weight and horsepower.

A lot of the older or bigger bike guys discount anything less than 900cc as being a small bike!?! I was asked the other day when I'd move up to a real bike from my little 600... some people.

    Tangent enough?
