Hello everyone, so I am new in this forum. It looks pretty helpful so I'll give it a try.
I am working on my yamaha 550 maxim and there is one nut that worries me. The nut is in the right corner of the clutch unit. It has securing washer but the nut it self feels loose. So my question is should I leave it this way and just secure the washer properly, or tighten the nut properly? I mean is it meant to be little loose or what?

It looks like the two tabs that hold the nut in place have allowed the nut to loosen. They are supposed to be flush against the side of the nut on the flat face. They are bent into position after the nut has been tightened.

I doubt it should be loose - looks like its holding on teh starter gear. Should be a torque spec for it but it looks like a big nut so I would go for about 30ft.lbs and then refit the tabs.
