YICS on my bike?

    Just verifying -
    My bike is from 1981. Therefore, it does NOT have a YICS, correct?

    It is my understanding that the YICS were only on bikes from 1982 on.

    Please let me know if I'm wrong.

    If that is your bike in the pic, then it doesn't.

    I am not sure what years, I think it might have been mid-production run.

    Anyway, if it's YICS, you can tell for sure, even if you have the wrong covers.

    RIGHT in front of the carbs, just below, about 3 inches down on the cylinder, in the fins, you will have a BOLT on BOTH sides of the motor.

    Not there? Can't see what I am talking about?

    No YICS! :)

    Does your valve cover say YICS on it?

    Or you can count the number of hold-down bolts on the valvecover:

    YICS motos have 12, non-YICS 650's have 20............

    The YICS and non-YICS valve covers will not intechange with each other, so if it says YICS on it, it's a YICS motor!
