When I pull up the YICS tool it talk's about the 1100 CC engine, is the specks for this tool the same for the XJ750? And does anyone have the milimeter vice inch specks.

I live in Thailand and they don't speak inches....

Another question, Since I cannot get the multi Carb vacuum guage test kit here, what about me buying (4) Vacuum guages, mouning them on wood or metal, buying rubber hose for each and making my own? Would not this work and pretty much be the same in order to balance my carbs with the help of course of the YICS tool??

Khundan, I went downstairs and measured the distance between the ports that need to be blocked off with the YICS tool. ( My engine is apart ) From the edge of the YICS port opening to the first port is 1.8mm, to the second port is 10mm, to the third port is 25mm, and the forth port is 33.3mm.
So if you put the rubber expander at 6mm, the second at 17.5mm, and the third at 29mm, you will separate all 4 ports from each other. The diameter of my YICS tool is 1mm.
I've been looking at the vacuum gauge vs mercury vs carbtuneII and haven't made up my mind yet. With vacuum gauges you will need to have a restricter of some kind to control needle flutter! I was looking at gaugestore.com part # 38602 compound gauge 30"Hg to 30 PSI at $21.06 each. They also have the "snubber" as they call them to help control needle flutter. - Hope this helps!

    Vacuum.

Each carb sucks on one of the tubes. Each tube is connected to the rest.

If one carb pulls harder than the others it's level will be a bit lower. Turn the balance screw so that the left bank is balanced. Turn the right screw to balance the right bank. Turn the center screw to balance the two banks.

With all of the carbs balanced the meter should stay flat - with no carb pulling harder than another.

It simply shows the vacuum that each carb has. Four tubes connect one to each carb via the capped tubes on the rubber intake. Once connected if one carb has more vacuum it will read higher than the others. As all tubes are connected together then it has a much better reading as the vacuum for each carb must be equal if the oil levels are the same in each tube.

Simply use it in place of the carbtune when syncing carbs.

Edit. What woot said. He's faster on the keyboard. ;)

Some people do it slightly differently...

Some people put some oil in a tube. They connect the ends of the tube to the two carbs in a bank. If the oil goes one way, that one has more vacuum. Turn the balance screw until it stops moving.

The longer the tube the more time you have to adjust it... using oil won't hurt the bike if it does get sucked all the way into a carb.

It's not as nice because you can't do them all at once, but it does work.

I do believe that the 'YICS' tool is standard across all platforms.

Order Mike O's YICS tool for ~ $35. Worth every penny.
