I think he means have them on all the time as running lights but still function as blinkers.

    that would be better.
would be easier to buy lights with the running light and blinker

I've done it on other bikes with a couple of relays, if I get some time I will post up a diagram. All the wires needed are in the headlight.

front signal lights on a xj700 nc are running lights and turn signals
he could use those and not have to modify the front wiring system
and install them in rear. not sure if the atari box would like extra bulbs on the tail light system
so he would have to add some wiring for that

    FYI
Some states may have laws against amber tail lights showing when not used as a turn signal.

Kmoe, can you take photos of what those LED driving lights look like when not masked by the glare?

I would like to supplement my one headlight on the XJ550.

Are they highly visible in daylight? The glass lens on my halogen doesn't show up much in daytime unless it is on high beam.

My turn signals in the front are a 3 wire dual element bulb , I wired them to the headlight so they are on at all times bike is running . Nice at night and better visibility to the other drivers. ( at least I hope :D)

I can do better than a pic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0LH8I2/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3E5QLEXDIBTSI&colid=3G3X7BCWNX13D
I wired them on a dedicated circuit using a relay that's triggered by a dedicated switch (that way I can also use them for setup/takedown while camping if needed). Thher are mounted to the turn signal brackets by replacing the special stock bolt (for mounting the rubber part to the steel fork bracket) with a longer bolt.

The lights are visible in daylight. I can see them reflect from road signs about 2 hours before dusk. At night they light up the road better than the stock high beam (with a fancy new bulb), so should be used as a supplemental high-beam at night, and as running lights during the day.

Have you cleaned the lens (interior) on your 550?

@Door dude Sure no prob, I should be able to get to that tonight. 82 750 max? That way I can make sure I give you the right colors. I was looking through chacals catalog and looks like the electrical connection housings are available so you could even do a plug n play harness. If you google a bit, there are some companies that make a harness you might be able to use for the rear. Little pricey, uses LEDs', and have to cut some wires though.

I did a little research and running orange lights on the rear is pretty much illegal in any state. I've done it in the past without an issue (always figured more light was better) but just takes one new cop out with his supervisor etc. to get a ticket. You may be able to find some red lenses to fit in there.

LED light bar added in place of the stock fog light.

    This one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01LB...dpPl=1&dpID=51hO7mteZRL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

Mounts directly to the bracket on the lower tree for the stock fog lamp.

It's crazy bright. I use the headlight for distance, and the led flood lamp for daylight nearby.

(Yeah, headlight is set too high; need to tear down the front end and move wires to tip it down some more this week)

It really, really does - particularly to the sides. I've previously had issues with running lights adding more distant light where the handlebars are pointing but little light nearby, and that's why I got the "Flood" pattern vs. spot lights - you can get these LED bars in Flood or Spot varieties.

I wanted to have a good view nearby, particularly when I'm doing low speed turns into driveways, parking lots, etc. This certainly does that, with tremendous brightness, and interestingly it doesn't interfere with other drivers nearly as much as you'd think because at a distance it diffuses enough.

And at $25cdn with free 2 day prime shipping, it was totally worth it.

Clean as a whistle. It is the lens pattern that keeps it from being bright on low beam in daytime. It is adjusted to proper height. Low beam casts arc out, down and to the right. It hits cars ahead a license plate height. High beam is really spectacular!

Could you show a picture of how these mounted to the turn signal bracket? (I assume it would work on an XJ550 as well?)

I have had 2 people pull out on me this summer. I need more visibility in the daytime!

his turn signals do not have the long rubber stem that a 550 has but it mounts to the frame in the same way. it looks and sounds like he replaced the clamping bolt in the signal body with a longer one and removed the short bolt in the led light

    bolt #17 in this link

    Bingo!
I removed and replaced the special (square body) bolt that mounts the rubber portion of the signal to the mounting bracket on the fork.

I wired them to a dedicated circuit using a 12v relay and a illuminated rocker switch to trigger the relay. The switch is mounted to the mirror stalk, just above the high beam switch.
