    I've noticed the valve adjustment tutorial with pics in these forums for the air cooled versions of the maxim. Is there something similar for the shim under bucket water cooled versions? 1986 maxim 700x to be specific

    You should be able to do a search for both and find what you need. The shims are not cheap, so make sure you do the calculations and order the ones you need. The shims you have in the bike might be able to move around and get over valves in spec. This process will take a while and might have your X down for a bit. Take is slow and steady.
