They can come from any of the items you listed, you just need to have the picture you want to send in your computer.
The picture can't be any larger than 500 pixels wide by 480 pixels high.

Most camera phones take 640x480 pixels, a bit bigger than the 500 maximum Nick mentioned. You'd have to scale down to 500x375 to post them.

Of course if you popped big $$ for the phone or got it in the last few months you may have even higher resolution pictures.

Microsoft paint will let you change the resolution of the image. Select Attributes and change the width to 500 and the height to 375.

Most digital cameras come with software and cables to connect the camera to the computer.

A lot of the newer computers come with slots that allow the digital cameras memory card to fit in and the card then acts like another disc drive to the computer. You can also buy these items as an aftermarket add on to the computer via the usb port. This method is a lot faster in transfering the image to the computer and you don't use the cameras batteries up either.

You can also do the email route via your phone as you stated, but it's important to remember that this site has a limit on the image size that you can upload. If the picture is too big you will have to resize it before you can post, and most pictures have to be resized!
