I would like to start by saying this is not my idea. I am borrowing it from viragotechforum.com where I was a member for 2 years while I owned a virago. But on that site, they have a sticky called "the solved project." If you are not familiar with the site, it requests members add the text(SOLVED) in in the title of their posts when an issue they had, especially a tech issue, has been resolved. I will post an example of this on my most recent tech help question that is finished.

This benefits the other members on the site so when they are searching for tech issues in the forum posts. They can focus on ones that are solved so they can find a solution to their problem quickly without clogging the site with multilple posts for the same issue. When they read solved posts, they will likely find a solution to their problem.

It benefits the moderators and senior members by helping them focus their attention on reading posts that are only new, unsolved problems instead of combing through posts that already are finished.

Just my small attempt at giving something back to those who have helped me here either directly or through me reading the countless helpful posts on this site.

    Marvelous! ...
    Absolutely right on the Ball.

And, now that there are over 6,000 Members ... we ought to limit who comes-in to truly interested new members.

That, ... and Topic Titles that are a little bit more descriptive than, "Oh, no ..." or "Need help".

Should also list in the subject line what type of bike it is. Maxim 650 or Seca 550

also, on suggestion, we should have a tech savvy person do a write up on pod filters, the cb750c did it and sticky'd it at the top of their chat

I support the idea for sure. The only thing about that is... I have seen a couple of times where an old thread was dug up in a search by someone with a related issue and they had more to add or a "but what if that's my problem but these are my circumstances which differ from the original..." etc. Sometimes a topic that seems to have been sealed by the poster may very well only scratch the surface for the next.
Also... it would be nice to have a way to weed out the info moochers who post 2 or 3 times expecting to get loads of answers, to make an old bike do trick or something, and never contribute or support the supporting vendors... etc.

Rick- glad you like the idea, happy to contribute for a change.

Wesley-I like your idea of labelling the posts in the title with the bike model for easy reference. Taking that one step further, It would be awesome if our tech section was further subcatagorized into the individual model xj's. An example would be a subsection for 550, another for 650, 750 and so on.

Chuckles-I see your point and I agree that not every "solved" post will answer every problem. I just feel that this would make it easier for us but especially the moderators. They can spend more time focusing on reading the non solved posts because by posting "solved" me as the simple member here is saying "thanks guys for your help, you can now skip my post and assist another." If you can't find a "solved" post that helps you, I would suggest then posting a new thread for help. Good point though.

Thanks guys for reading so far, I appreciate the input. Hopefully more people chime in on this post.

Wellll, yes and no. A lot of this stuff (front forks, valve adjustment on an aircooled motor, alternators, etc.,) are the same across all of them.

You could also drive yourself crazy with BRAKES between different models in any given displacement.

"SOLVED" is a good idea; as are more descriptive titles when it's a technical question.

    BRAKES is a Perfect Example.

There should be a separate Thread for EACH Caliper Style and Rebuilding Technique.

    Then, a GENERAL FRONT BRAKES
