    On my 81 xj650 I am having a hell of a time getting the original exhaust to go back on

    Which part of the system are you putting on?
    Have you removed the old gaskets and cleaned the pipe joints?

    Yea trying to get the Headers to line up to install the pipes everything cleaned old gaskets out all that.

    Put the headers on last. Leave everything loose until the system is all slipped together.
