Hi I'm new to the bike world and new to this site. I have a 82 maxim 750 it all still stock. I want to change my headlight to a round style instead the box style that on it now. My question is there a aftermarket light that I can order or is there another way doing it.

I can answer this one! I did exactly this and it's super easy. The 82 XJ1100 headlight will fit right in your current bracket and plug right in. I had to buy the bucket and light seperately on eBay but it works and looks great. I had to tuck the wires for that smaller light into the new bucket.

Does anyone know if this works for the Seca as well? Bikes just look better with round lights.

Nope. Never even been to the middle east. Even worse, I'm canadian! And I also dislike modern bike styles with their irregular shaped lights and tanks that look like bicycle helmets. In design school, I was taught that simplicity is the soul of good design.

How many of the best looking bikes have rectangular lights? Perhaps I should start a thread in hangout lounge. Or other motorcycles.

When I bought my XJ550 new in 1985, one of the newer model XJ's on the showroom had rectangular headlights. One reason I bought the XJ550 is the round headlight look. That and the discounted price since it had been on the showroom for 2 years...

Sorry it took a few days to get back to this but here's a picture of mine. I found the light and bucket on eBay both from the 82 xj1100.

I know I'm going to shock and offend some (but I don't cares, Olive, so :p), but last month I fitted a rectangular GPZ1100 headlight to the XS650.
In my opinion, it looks fine.
This light always was a favourite of mine, it having been acquired by me to sit on the front of my GS850, as it was one of the best headlights of its day. The use I was putting the bike to, function trumped appearance all day long, and still does. Big, well-designed reflector + good lens = safety and happiness.
That was back then, when decent equivalent 7" round units were expensive, and I wasn't into shelling out the money required for them, when this would do the job fine.
Of course now, the internet has come along and I find a bit of research reveals one of the best 7" lights made and available for peanuts is the late 80s Koito unit fitted to the Mitsubishi Shoguns, so one of them is now in my fairing on the front of the GS, which freed up the square one for other use.

"function trumped appearance all day long."
There ya go, thinking with your brain again! You have to think with your gut sometimes, but mostly a few inches below the gut, in order to achieve Matti levels of greatness! Lol just do what makes you and your bike happy.
