pilot screw?

    Looking at the clymer manual that finally showed up it says to not turn the pilot screw as it has been set at the factory, looking at the diagram Im having a kinda hard time telling which one it is haha its a 1918 550, cant find any specific pictures of it anywhere either online

    did they have cameras in 1918 ?
    someone who knows 550's will be along shortly

    epa required pilot screw be turned and tuned at factory, pilot screw is on top of front throat of carbs it is typical to have a plug over it

    I have a mikuni suzuki rebuild file if you want a copy let me know it used to be a link in info overload

    plug is about 1/8 inch thick you drill a tiny hole in the tiny hole and screw in a sheet rock screw then pull it out

    ok Im cleaning the carbs etc I figured it was under the plug! I guess Im gonna leave it be haha

    no you have to remove it to clean it or you may melt the little tiny oring and plug up your pilot jet circuit

    those rubber o-rings are 30 years old and hard as rocks by now, if they don't seal you can't adjust the idle mixture

    Never mind that they are probably gummed up.
    1/8 " drill bit . The plug is about 3mm thick don't go to far. Use a drill press if you can and set the stop gauge on it to prevent damaging the mixture screw and insert a #6 screw into the plug. I use a tack puller to remove
