sorry for what may be a dumb question but as a new yx600 owner I thought I’d give the bike an oil and filter change. I’ve removed the filter housing but uncertain how the element comes out. I can see a pin going through the inside of the long retaining bolt, is it something to do with that?
    Thanks

It should just pull off the bolt. There is a washer and spring behind it. Only thing holding it on is friction of rubber Center of filter.

You may need to give it a twist to break the rubber free.

I now have one other unknown. There was an oil leak from this bolt. It just spins and the large thin nut behind it also turns but I can’t seem to remove it: Neither tighten. Any ideas, threads gone? Is it some sort of pressure relief?

That is the main crank oil gallery !
Should never be removed due to being commonly broken. If it fails oil everywhere. You may be able to install a metric drain plug repair bolt they are usually 1-2 mm oversized and locktite it in place
