    Hi XJ riders..
I have a XJ750 ,1982: Mikuna carb, CV sliders were stuck, bad gas..
I pulled the fuel bowls to clean and free the floats and needles..Not wanting to disturb the upper half..Spray Carb cleaner to clean the throats and spray one of the passages to the upper half not knowing. I invert the carb assembly and didn’t realize the carb cleaner got into the Rubber diaphragms and opened the Top cover and they looked puffy and I set them aside to air dry and spray silicone on the diaphragms...There is no tears or holes that I can see...
1-Does anyone know where I can order the diaphragms, I realize they don’t sell them alone.
    2. Is there another Mikuni Part No I can interchange to possibility make to find into this unit?
3-There is a person on this Forum that sell Yamaha XJ carb parts..I didn’t bookmark the site and can’t find his posting. It may take a while
    4- Additional Question :
Fuel Bowls there is a small jet on the bottom and a another pilot hole on the top of the Fuel Bowl Gasket...Cant seem to get it clear...I try soaking the part and use compressed air to clear it and a single stran of wire to clear the passage..I realize the shp manual warns you not to stick wire to clear the ports...But using a little judgment the wire size was smaller than the size in the fuel bowl..

Thank you for your help...It may take couple of days to ck my mail .So Thanks in advance..

Hey Midnite.......your XJ750 should use Hitachi carbs, not Mikuni!

Diaphrams by themselves are not available, if even if they were, you'd find it impossible to get them on and off. Complete new diaphram units are available, you can find them in my ad on the forums at:

    Hi XJWizard

Thanks for the update...ALL this time I was looking at Mikuni section..

Is there spec on How to adjust your Fuel Bow floats..The SHop Manual didnt give a spec heigtht , but to attaach a 1/4 in clear tubing to drain outlet and move the tube to the side of the carb to determine the fuel level.
Didnt realize its a hit and miss and to perform this on the other 3 carbs..
when the manual suggest to install the carbs on the motorcycle and ck the levels..Any one have a better way of cking the float levels?

    Thank you

    Greetings all,

New to the forum, and glad to be here. I have a '83 (says 10/82' on the ID but it is a K model) Maxim 750 and of coarse, let it sit too long and had to clean carbs. I saw using the search, that with the set inverted; the bottom of the floats should be about 9/16" inch below the bowl flange. Another said that the measurement was 21mm. I would love to know where on the set to measure the float.

    Many thanks,

    Christopher

    Christopher,
Welcome to you first off, nice to see you are interested in working on your machine.
You might get a bit more traffic on your question if you posted it in the XJ Chat forum.
A side note: It is considered bad form to jump into someone else's thread with your own questions.
Don't feel too bad, it happens with new members.
We'll let you slide this time.
