    Hi guys

Do the con-rod’s go back in a specific direction? Like do the printed numbers face the front or the back of the bike?

I feel so stupid for not noting this when I took it apart.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but here are a couple of links from Ebay that clearly show the lettering, note these two are opposite:

Since the connecting rods are sold as a separate item it would suggest they are not matched so the direction would not matter. What's is important is the selection of the bearing based on the markings on the connecting rod vs the journal number. That said, if not replacing parts I think best practice would be to orient the bearings and rods back to their original locations and orientation.

There is no mention of directions in the genuine Yamaha service manual.

Thanks for your help guys . . . it all got figured out in the end with the help of your advice.

The numbers printed across the joint of the conrod to the conrod cap makes that part easy.

Then if you look closely at the top of the caps, there’s a small dimple on one side.

After checking multiple photos from multiple sources, the dimples face the right hand side of the bike, and the printed numbers face the back of the bike.
