    Intake manifold boots.

I keep ordering them off ebay and it keeps saying they will fit - the pictures look right because sellers just copy paste the photo 4 times and they are all supposed to be identical (mount bottom right to top left with the fitting coming out of the top) but when they get here they always have 2 opposites.

What bike are you working on, and, XJ650 and all XJ750 models use 2 left-side manifolds and 2 right-side manifolds.

When the left and right sides are mixed-up......they'll still mount to the head, but the brass vac port will be upside down. The 2 left-side manifolds for the 650 non-yics engines are different than the 2 left-side manifolds for the 650 yics-engined models. The right side manifolds are the same for all years of both the XJ650 (yics or non-yics engines) and all the XJ750 engines.

P.S. can't comment with precise knowledge, but at $ 19.95 for a set of 4 manifolds.....that's $5.00 per manifold, less than the price of a cheeseburger at Mickey D's......I will wager that the manifolds are going to be and offer less-than-stellar quality,

    XJ650, XJ700, and XJ750 engines:

NOTE: the non-YICS (1980-81 XJ650 Maxim/Midnight Maxim and 1982 XJ650RJ Seca) left side (cylinders #1 and #2) manifolds differ from the YICS (1982-84) manifolds in the orientation of their mounting:

    * non-YICS engines have the intake manifold mounting bolt holes in the cylinder head aligned in this manner:

    <#1 \ \ \ \ #4>

    * YICS engines have the intake manifold mounting bolt holes in the cylinder head aligned in this manner:

    <#1 / / \ \ #4>

This is why the left side (cylinders #1 and #2) intakes differ between the YICS and non-YICS engines, and why they are the same for the right side (cylinders #3 and #4) on all XJ650 non-Turbo engines!
