    Hi XJ folks!

I just opened my Maxim's front forks. Dimensions of the inner tubes: 36mm diameter, 26 1/8" = 664mm length. They are bent and pitted, not financially viable to repair.

Looking at some aftermarket manufacturers, there is no such thing for XJ 550 Maxim. It lists 35mm (5F8-23110-00) or 36mm (3KN-23110-00) diameter, 585mm length for XJ 550 tubes.
    • Is this for the Seca?
    • OEM part # should be 5K5-23110-01-00, alas I cannot find the dimensions. Could anybody please post the correct dimensions?
    • Can you tell if my forks come from another, possibly higher model?
    • Is this potentially affecting my trial angle and should I swap back to whatever OEM tubes are?
    Thanks!

    seca 550 is a 35mm tube maxim 550 is a 36mm tube

you could put a different fork set up on there or buy used. a 750 setup would give you a dual disk setup

Thanks for the reply! I know I am looking for 36mm diameter, just trying to figure out of the 664mm length is correct. Finding mixed data so far.

post a photo of your lower fork tubes to help ID them.

unless you are going for a full restore of bike you may consider a used set off of ebay

Awesome, this is exactly was I was looking for!

    I considered:
    1. used set off of eBay, unfortunately pretty much everything is pitted
    2. restoring the pair I already have, that will come to $300 for resurfacing + straightening
    3. new aftermarket set or NOS, same cost as restoring
