1984 xj750 engine oil

    Hi, I’ve just got a loan of an xj750 and the oil light has come on, is there a specific oil I should buy? Thanks.

    The oil light is quantity, not oil pressure if oil quantity sending unit is dirty from lack of oil changes the float will stick . When you do the oil change it can be removed but exhaust system will need removed to get it out. Once removed you can clean it out.

    exactly how is the oil light showing? , if it comes on permanently ,when the ignition is turned on , then "Jetfixer" called it right,
    but if it just lights up when the start button is pressed, then that is a test facility for the bulb, and nothing to worry about
