    Guys I have a 1985 Yamaha xj700 n I'm sure you guys out there know how to do a proper valve adjustment on my bike so could you please give me some information on the correct way to do it

    Use the wire to hold the valve. Easier and faster than the valve bucket tool, and won't break off like zip-ties sometimes do.

    Definitely this.

    You’ll need some small screwdrivers though as without the tool they can be a bear to remove from the bucket.

    The bucket holding tool does nothing to help pry the shims out. It just holds the valve open.

    once you pop the shim in the bucket use a magnet to lift it out
