    July 9th, 2012: 82 stuff still in stock! Go down and read the last post.

    Ok .. due to the human condition, we seem to still have the complete 1982 set of electrics in our posession. The person that was going to buy the 82's has seen bad times and was unable to complete the transaction. Consequently we still have the 82 electrics (TCI, Coils, and Voltage Regulator).

    I'll offer them for the same reduced pricing that I set the 1980s at just before they sold a few days ago.

    $150.00 plus s/h.

    PREFACE: Oh this is just too sad. My husband and I started building project bikes to be able to ride together. We had got pretty far along on both machines when it was discovered that he has a spinal injury that is inoperable (beforehand we had been told that he had a shoulder issue that would be easily fixed so we'd been moving forward with both projects until it was discovered that it was much more serious). It involves vertebra T7 and if he should fall there is a good chance he'd be paralyzed. He's ridden since 1973 and motorcycles were his whole life. He decided to quit the hobby altogether to avoid the temptation so he won't get hurt and put me in a position of caring for him for the rest of our lives. We have hundreds of hours of time in this 1982 XJ650J and a good deal of money as well. So as they say, our misfortune is your gain. We need to part out both bikes to pay ongoing medical bills (his is a different bike, selling elsewhere). So I'll be placing a series of ads here in this forum that detail groups of parts as we go along. Best wishes, Abeja.

    This ad is for IGNITION PARTS AND ELECTRICS

    VOLTAGE REGULATOR. Here's the story on this one. One of the connector tabs broke off inside the Molex plug so we soldered on a very high quality 1/4" spade to the wire that was once connected to the spade that broke off (the one we installed is a chrome plated copper spade made to be soldered on, it's not some auto parts store crimp-on poo). The solder joint was then heat shrinked with sealed heat shrink (it has a sealant inside it that melts when the tubing is heat shrinked to provide a superior insulation). We're supplying the female shrouded connector, as well as an unshrouded connector, and a crimp-on butt-connector is the event you also need one of those to install this VR.

    PRICES:
    1980...
    TCI = $100.00
    Coils = $30.00 for the set.
    Voltage Regulator = $30.00

    1982...
    TCI = $100.00
    Coils = $30.00 for the set.
    Voltage Regulator = $20.00

    All prices are plus S/H.

    As I said everything came off of running bikes. We'd cleaned everything up to be used on my project "XJX" (that was what I was going to name it).

    Thank you!

    Best wishes and be well .... Abeja.

    Just an FYI, y'all: that busticated terminal inside that connector shell for the voltage regulator can be removed and replaced.

    Thanks for adding that! I think hubbisan planned on doing some sort of Yoda-esque majique to the entire harness, so this was a temp-cure.

    But thank you for the brainial unbustimuhcation learnage.

    Price for the remaining three pieces WAS at $160 ($100 for the TCI, $30 for the coils, and $30 for the VR).

    Reducing to $150 plus s/h for the whole 1980 3-piece rig.

    :)
