Fibreglass sticks to the plastic a charm and what can't you make with fibreglass?
I have a sidecover with a bolt reinforced and shaped with some resin and fibreglass, that seats into my tank.
Helps to get new rubbers mind you, stiff ones are good way to break the sidecovers.
Silicon spray on the rubbers every now and again isn't a bad option either.

Most of these yamaha side covers are made from ABS plastic. I fixed mine with a sheet of ABS and glue for ABS pipe from the hardware store. It is easy to fab new tabs and glue them on.

We’re they broken before you took it in? If not, THEY should be on the hook to get replacements for you, or reimburse you for the damages.
