82 XJ 650, wanting to straight pipe. Do I need to rejet?

    I have a 1982 XJ650 Maxim. My baffles are in bad shape and I was looking at straight piping anyway. I live in the country so don’t have neighbors to bother. Stock airbox, will I need to rejet the carbs for it to run right? If so, what jets? Thanks.

    There is a guide under the carbs section of the overload hour, but yes, I would expect you to be weak everywhere, and if that includes some full throttle riding you'd better correct it with jets and maybe needles.
    I hve no idea which ones though.

    Fiddling with exhaust is not so critical as fiddling with intake from what I've read. Suggest plug chop or better still dyno run to see what is needed - maybe nothing.
