My bike starts and runs every time. Since I've had it periodically dies out of nowhere without sputter but will fire back up within seconds. Kickstand kill switch or engine kill switch is what I'm leaning toward. Any other ideas

    Loose ground connection somewhere?
If you haven't recently it may be a good time to go through all your connections and clean/ die electric grease them.
34 year old bike deserves some attention to detail and love...

How long have you owned the bike?
Have you done any work on it?

Owned twice in 5 years. Had it a total of 2 years. Done it since I bought it the first time. Dies and it will restart after 30 seconds

pull side stand safety relay ,clean sidestand safety switch dissemble and clean kill/run switch.

check your ignition fuse is it still the glass style? replace with fuse box or inline blade fuse.
    dirty ignition key contacts

could be a failing vent in gas cap, failing vacuum hose to pet cock run on prime to test hose or just replace it 4mm hose

    Bone stock. Good.
Delving a bit deeper (this is unrelated to you current problem, but important):
Have you ever checked valve clearances?
