A Fair price...

    Hello everyone,
    I am new to the forum but am a Seca fan and owner since 1985. Question for the experts here:
    I have a 1983 Turbo 650 with 34k miles and rising.
    Runs beautifully but could use some cosmetic stuff. All original except for the seat cover. This is a "driver" not a museum piece.
    I have owned this particular Turbo for about 10 years now. I have had 2 others for long periods as well dating back to 1985 when I bought my first Turbo, an '82.

    Moving overseas now and will have to part with my beloved bike. Problem is... I have no idea what a fair price for it would be as they are getting scarce. I am just looking for a fair price to a good home for a great bike.

    Any ideas where I should have my pricing at?

    Pricing can vary depending on the area you are selling. I suggest looking at the Canadian version of Craigslist ads (sorry, I know it starts with a K, but can't recall the name) and see what they are going for in your general area. I would think a Seca would fetch a more than a Maxim. I've seen Maxims here in running condition go from $800 - $1200 USD.

    Edit: Nice looking Seca, by the way.

    2 weeks ago I repainted the engine/pipes/forks. Wow. What a difference. Still need to remove the tank and get the heads. The old girl could really use a new paint job. If I could be reasonably certain I could match the original paint, I would take it in to have it sprayed, professional-like.

    Looks to be in pretty good shape even at the 34K on it. Pricing is going to be disheartening because as much as I had hoped, there is very little "demand" for the Yammy turbo. I watched a couple of years ago as Paul Miller sold a PRISTINE '82 with less than 2500 original miles barely break 2 grand on fleabay!

    I would suggest that you get it ready for long term storage and let it stay with a friend while you are gone....it won't generate a lot of money but it's a VERY rare bike with less than 1500 produced worldwide in '83!


    BTW- you can get those rubber mirror boots now as well as the dash frame piece...
