    Which bike do I have? Tired of answering this yet? Perhaps someone can decode the VIN in to a chart so anyone who has their VIN can find out what they have.

    Also an explanation as to the difference between the H, J, K, RH, RJ, and RK versions of the XJ's would be a great idea as well.

    If I had the decoding schema for the VIN, I would post it myself, however I have no idea.

    Ok, well I was told in another post what the G, H, J, K, RG, RJ, RH, and RK mean.

    G = 1980
    H = 1981
    J = 1982
    K = 1983

    The R in front designates it is a Seca version. No R and you have a maxim.

    As for the VIN decoder...I see now why no one wants to post it...perhaps they don't want it to be worthless to buy the XJCD...

    Perhaps this was not a great idea.

    I doubt that is the reason and it seems like a great idea to me. The XJCD is full of much more valuable info than the VIN decoder. Publishing that info here hardly makes the CDs worthless.

    Ok. Yeah, I figured that not everyone who has one of these bikes will want the CD...especially if they just want to know what a bike in their garage is before they try selling it. They come here, find out exactly what it is, and then advertise it for sale correctly.

    That is where I thought this would be a good thing to add...

    We are always willing to help but for the price, the XJCD is worth its weight in gold. It not only has a decoder but also has updated service manuals, parts diagrams, interesting info and it covers just about all the XJ models not just one particular one. An invaluable resource. It can answer probably about half the questions posted out here in a matter of minutes.
