Turned 50 last year. Celebrated it by riding across Canada from Victoria BC to St. John's Newfoundland - 10,842 kms in total (bought a 1990 Goldwing for the trip - for the sake of passenger comfort, not because the XJ couldn't handle it). Got my XJ650RJ Seca near-new in 1986 and kept it because it just fits me so well and does everything I need (except long-distance 2-up touring - hence the Wing).
First street bike was a 1979 XS400 which was great for learning and commuting but vibrated your hands and feet numb on a long ride.

55 in June , nice to be in the majority for once !! Started in 1976 with a Suzuki AP 50 (shifty Fifty as they were called here) Then between 76 and 1980 had 2 x RD250 DX air cooled 1 x DT250 trailie and 1 x CB 750 F1 and CB 400 F2 . Stopped biking to have family till 2 years ago took the plunge with an 81- XJ550 --( european version of the seca)
Allways fancied an XJ as was at the launch in Glasgow when Yamaha chartered a train , gutted the carraiges and filled with all the latest model bikes and toured the major cities in the UK for bikers to view--novel way to market!! Still trying to get the 550 running properly more to do with me than the bike. Fingers crossed!! Ambition is to have XJR 1300 with 4 into 2 Exhaust system.

Never on motorcycles as a kid, just ATVs and Snowmobiles... Just turned the big 4-0 (as they pronounce in my hometown). Remember seeing a few 650 Maxim at high school and thought they were the coolest bikes ever. Back in '07 I think, had a bit of a health scare and told myself I'd get a bike before I was too old and full of regret. Wrote off my '83 a couple years later but stuck with the line, picking up a 81 750 a short time later.
