It is so nice to have things go the way they are supposed too... I got my rebuilt carbs back on today, after finding some NOS intake manifolds from an old yamaha dealership that has since relinquished the yamaha name... OEM, brand new, in packaging... 100$ The guy has given me quite a bit o'stuff lying around in the back he never thought he'd sell.

Also bought new vacuum plugs, air box boots, and the bolts and clamps from chacal to ensure there is no hole anywhere...

Also corrected the valve clearance with the help of our neighborhood dealer as well...

And a whole load of cosmetic crap too... anyway, it's all been under construction at the same time... When I came back before the season, whatever air leak was haunting me last season became overwhelming... So I figure what the heck... start like I just got it, since I had the cash to do things right. She hasn't started in months, then she wouldn't... today I get my boots on, load the carbs on, turn my GRAVITY petcock to the on position for a couple moments... and SUCCESS!

My color tune plug and sync tools are all ready to do their job tomorrow, but she already idles better than she did when I got her... with just the bench sync and start setting of 2 1/2 turns out on the mixture screws... With all the things I have done since it ran, I thought for sure SOMETHING would hinder that initial start... even something minor... but it didn't. The short mufflers I cut up to mount even showed a nice seal to the collection box. I'm proud... It's a good day.

And snow is in the forecast.

Does he have any more? No, seriously...

Congrats on your progress, BTW. I'm kind of getting to that point myself; you know, where everything seems to be falling into place, and although you're not out of the woods yet, you can at least see sunlight now... ;)

...I'm not sure what he has... I'll go in Monday and see if he has any manifolds. It's a local powersports dealer, until a few years ago, there was a big ol' yamaha logo on the building. I've gotten lucky a couple of times, but I know the vast amount of their yamaha inventory has been depleted. I'll ask him what he's got though.
