i did a fork rebuild the other day (it's been a few weeks) and my air adjuster caps need new o-rings. they weren't holding air more than a day before and releasing faster now.

does anyone know what the size is for those?

apparently, rebuild kits don't exist, but i can still find seals and dust caps.

You need to check with Len (@chacal here) at XJ4EVER.com or from the logo at the top right of every page here. He has almost everything for our XJ's, his site has about all the XJ info you need and is the best fellow to do business with you will run across anywhere.

Can you take the o ring off the cap and take the o ring to your local automotive parts supplier for a comparison?
Is this the part? > O-RING for Yamaha - order at CMSNL

    nope.

probably should have taken the time to measure them when i had them apart.
    i'll keep looking.

looks like they're called "Fork Cap Bolt O-ring, 35mm", but i'm looking for the dimensions at this point. if it's a 35mm diameter, then i need the thickness.

If you go to Partzilla or any of the other online parts places you can search the diagrams for part numbers. #10 below is the oring I think you are describing. Also handy is the cross reference to other models that use the same part, so you can often find parts on ebay by searching for the other models. Click on the part number, then the "product fitment" tab to see the cross reference. And since that one is a static seal, you can get away with an inexact fit out of a standard or metric variety pack kit. But the one you are describing shows as available.

RL Noble: do you need the o-rings for the big CAP BOLT (item #10) or the tiny o-rings for the schraeder (air input) valves (item #20)?

I literally just did a fork rebuild on my 1982 XJ650 and there were 4 in each fork
the o-ring on the top plug (large)
the o-ring on the schrader valve (small)
the o-ring on the bleeder valve (small)
the o-ring on the valve stem (smallest)

did you happen to do any measurements?

we're coming to a point where we're going to lose our commercial sources for part number acquisition and having the dimensions will benefit us.

I did not, sorry. I just replaced like with like. I had bought the fork rebuild kit from Chacal here on the forums

I saved two of the o-rings I can check saturday and report back and try to approximate the sizes
