Breather gaskets?

Some of you may have seen my other bling bling thread where I have been polishing the cases on my Seca. Had pulled the gearshift cover off and picked up a new gasket for it from our favorite parts guy but neglected to pick up the 2 smaller ones for the internal breathers.

The old gaskets for the breathers came off perfectly but feel pretty rigid. With 70 degree temps forcasted I am considering reusing the old gaskets. My question is am I running to big of a risk using the old ones or should I just suck it up and forget about riding this weekend?

I don't see any problem with re-using the old gaskets if they are still in good condtion. Being it is rigid or brittle won't be an issue if you use a good high temp RTV silicone sealer during installation. I've done it more times than I can remember and never had a leak problem. I always followed the instructions and let the RTV setup for 5 minutes before mating the surfaces back together and only tighten the bolts finger tight. Then let it sit for 1/2 hour before the final tightening process to get a good seal. That always seems to work to re-seal an old gasket.
I like to let it setup over night if possible before riding, but I have been known to only let it sit for a few hours before running it. I'd say let it setup for atleast 2 hours before running it.
I did the same thing with my valve cover gasket last year when I set my valve clearance and don't have any leaks yet with the old gasket still in there. Go for it!
