Can't remove key from seat /helmet lock

I had to remove the seat today and used the key to unlock as I've done at least a half dozen times before. However this time, I'm unable to remove the key after unlocking. Thoughts??

 

Lubrciate the lock, and wiggle the key around.

 

is there a lubricant that seems to work better than others? I should have mentioned that I can 't get the key to turn at all. Won't turn...release...etc. This is what happens when you don't get a second key made ....

 

you have to sneak up on it. tie a string on the key then shut off all the lights, whistle a little tune then create a diversion, drop something noisey on the floor and pull the string.
works for me every time

 

Whatever you have handy that's liquid and slippery. WD-40, Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster, motor oil, melted butter...

You could unbolt the lock from the frame and take it to a locksmith if you can't get it to free up.

 

I like the sneaking up on it trick. But yes. Take it off and to a locksmith it goes and get a couple spares made while you’re there

 

Unfortunately the key is wider than the frame hole that the lock mounts into. If I trimmed the edges of the key, it could probably be removed. I'll let the lubricant penetrate for a day and try again. Worse comes to worse, I'll lop it off and get a new ignition switch and key set. I have another seat lock and key and can use that to replace it. Having two different keys for the bike isn't a big deal

 

on the bottom of ignition lock is the key code you can have a key cut from that code .ebay about 10$ for 1 key. it may also be stamped on the key

 

Try moving the seat lock brackets. It seems to me that I had the same problem several years ago and found that the key could only be removed when the bracket was in the proper position.
