    Question:
Is there supposed to be a pass thru (open passage) in the float bowl between the top opening and the opening at the bottom of the casting. The is a tube that extens down from the carb body into the hole at the top of the float bowl that looks like it should flow into the bottom. Mine appears to be blocked. Thanks for any insight.

There is an enrichment jet that needs to be clear or the bike won't start when cold. Here is a picture posted by one of the XJ group.

Yes, that needs to be open. This is a very common problem that the passage from the main bowl to the enrichment bowl is clogged.

There is a good amount of info on this forum about those little buggers.

Shooting carb cleaner through those passages and into your eyes seems to be a right of passage.

Is the enrichment jet at the bottom of the hole removable or do you just have to try and clear it out in place?
