Ive got an 85 maxim 700, and am on the last bits of finishing it up. I got a new brake lever from motion pro. There is nothing listed for a clutch lever though. Is there any other model's lever that would work on it? Or am i stuck searcing for an nos part, or last resort, one thats at least better than mine? It looks just like the one from my 87 535 virago i used to have, but the oem part numbers are way different. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

I would stay away from jobber levers. Quality not as good and poor finishing can ruin a perfectly good cable. An Oem lever can be straightened a cheap one breaks very easily. As far as I can tell the only difference between your 700 having a chrome one and my 650 is black.

Sweet. Id straighten it if i could, but both were broken. And thats what i thought, as far as fit goes. It looks like every yamaha street bike lever ive ever seen. This bike wont see a hell of alot of use, so aftermarket is probably how ill go. Especially with the budget. I think ill try that one and see how it goes

Go for OEM , xj4ever will have the CORRECT part!!! or take your chances and go to eBay , levers are cheap anyway

I tried eBay for a clutch lever. Great price. I think I gave it away or tossed it, can't remember. The one I ordered from XJ4ever, after the one from eBay, fit perfectly. The one from eBay did not.

You can also use levers from the 84- up virago. Xv700, xv750, xv1000, and the Xv1100.

And---- iirc, the levers from the earlier vmax too

Awesome! Thats what i was hoping to hear lol! The brake lever i got is the same # as the viragos, but there was no clutch lever listed for the maxim700. Ill order the virago clutch lever and pick it up tomorrow locally. If it works, great! And if not, ive got a buddy with a virago that he dropped last summer. He could possibly use it. Thanks a million everyone!
