Hi all, i have a 1987 uk fz600 which i believe has the same engine as a uk xj600, ive been thinking for a while about turbocharging the bike, if im not mistaken the compression ratio is 10.0:1, would i get away with a small turbo running low boost on this standard compression?? If not and im going to have to alter the headgasket to shim it up a bit where can i obtain parts for this engine to lower the compression, there doesnt seem much about for this bike

    Thanks Phil

Welcome to the site Phil !!

If you install a thicker head gasket, you change your valve timing.
You would want to get to 9:1 at least or you are stuck running premium or even race gas.
You need to get rid of "overlap" which means custom grinding the cams ($$400??) but then you can fix the valve timing issue.
Then there's the ignition timing issue, where, on boost, you need to get rid of some advance (nice to have a knock sensor built into the ignition board)
The carbs need to be able to work under pressure.

I'm scrapping a turbo bike if you need some odd parts.
    PM me.
