    Anyone notice these before?

The DC1-2 seem to be the same primary resistance as the DC1-1s that have been recommended for our bikes, though it looks like the miniature ones might actually fit under our bike without modifications (even use the stock bolts )

It appears the most noticeable difference is the secondary resistance on the DC1-1 is 2,900 Ohms more than the DC1-2, but other than that, they seem to be a better solution for our bikes.

Plus they're only 5 bucks more expensive.

Anyone with lots of smarts willing to verify these should work?

Seven months ago I asked the same question. I'm not clever enough with electronics to fully understand the conversation that ensued, but this post from Rick summed up the general consensus:

"I spoke to the DYNA Technician. Get the GREEN ones!"

I'm still curious as to why the minis wouldn't work, but don't want to be in the guinea pig position -- so I encourage YOU to try it!

I should have known better. I can't tell you how many posts I just skip over because I KNOW someones just going to drop the obligatory "use the search feature".

So what do I do... go and post this without searching for it first.

    My bad.

Though it's a shame those don't work, they would work great I think...

I'm curious what you would recommend for an XJ550 as far as new coils? I'm doing a complete rebuild and i'm not sure what way to go. I have decided not to jet and go with pod filters because I was talked out of it by a local mechanic. Your thoughts on that? Thanks for all the help!

I'm not sure why the secondary resistance would be a problem. Stock coils are 11K. The GREEN coils recommended are 14K. The mini at 11.5K is much closer to stock.

Seems to me I had heard that the mini were more suited for drag racing. So they would tend to damage our TCI's. Not sure about this but I would like to know myself for sure. I like the mini's and agree they should mount well.

Another thought is to simply get spark plug caps that had the additional resistance built in to make up for the shortfall in resistance requirements. 2,900 ohms is only an additional 3K more than the stock 5K listed for the stock caps. I wonder if NGK makes an 8K cap??? Anyone with a quick answer? I'll check it out later and post an answer if I hit gold.

Those resistor elements look just like the SMT resistors, I wonder if one could substitute an appropriate value in and have it work. 1/8 watt 8K shouldn't be all that hard to find.
