I'm going over; either late Saturday morning (if it's not thunderstorming) or Sunday morning early. I'll be on the black bike.

Wow! Sunday in New Buffalo, I was sitting with my friend Juanita on her back steps when, I did hear a steam whistle? No Way! Yes Way! I ran to the street and saw the Southern Pacific "Daylight" no. 4449 chug by just a block away! I told Juanita but she couldn't move fast enough to see it before it pulled out. So I said: “Get in the car, we'll drive to the next stop!" Well, the tourist traffic was locked up! I struggled through my short cut's and raced down US12 east, but we realized we were in the middle of an army of train chasers, all trying to get ahead for a good look! Bummer, too many pilgrims slowed up the race, the best I could do was get her a look at the engine from 300 yards behind. She thought the orange coaches looked modern, and I had to explain basic steam locomotion to her and why it became obsolete. She understood the coal pollution part, because the smoke bothered her. Surprise can make for a memorable day.
    Have a great time Fitz!

Well the weather forecast is for partly crappy with a 60% chance of really sh*tty; but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the bike needs some miles, so I'm going!

There's only one little thunder-bugger on radar right now, I should be able to dodge it. If I get wet, I get wet. Be a chance to try out the Avons in the wet.

I'm going to try to get a pic of my bike in front of the 4449.

Anybody from the Lansing area, suit up and join me!

I'm outta here. (7:30AM local time, should put me there around 10.)

Had to play hide-n-seek with the thunderheads all morning and all the way back, but didn't get all that wet...

    It was worth it.
