    Sup!

Want to change tires and I wonder what can be the widest tire (front and rear) on Yamaha xj650 1982 Seca?

Undoubtedly, wider tire looks cooler on custom project but, of course, there are limits.

    Appreciate ur help.

For the rear, the research i've done has pointed to a 130 for the width to avoid any rubbing issues on the driveshaft. I'd love to know if anyone has any other info as I'm looking to modify my rear.
I'm actually contemplating putting a maxim rear rim on my seca as my front end swap switched to a 17 front rim from the standard 19, so I need to better "balance" the bike. This would allow the rims to better match the size. I know @Jish did this swap for this project seca too.

    130 rear. Stock front.

Wider isn't better if the bike wasn't built to lean far enough to use the extra width.

That's the metric equivalent for the stock size, yes. Trying to stuff something wider on the rim tends to not work so well.

DimaV, I have no input to make regarding the tyre. However as my wife has recently walked out I find myself occasionally in need of female company - are there any more like the one in your Avatar about? I will gladly bring along the fattest rear tyre money can buy if the arrangement is suitable.

The balance we seek is to spend as much time in the garage working on bikes as we can without having the little lady walk out.

I thought the balance was to work on the bike less and ride it more.

    I run a 110/90/19 up front
And a 130/90/18 on the rear.
    Absolutely no rubbing.
Good luck trying to find tires that match in those sizes though. I had to search for ages until I found anaussie brand that fits
