Instrument Cluster Surgery!

    With riding season coming up soon, I have to repair my speedo, it was making a humming sound and then it stopped. I still need to double check the cable but if the cable is good, should I try to find a new cluster, or try to do a 'speedo implant'?

    Any advice????

    Sounds like possibly a frayed cable finally let go to be honest, although if the cable is damaged but still no speedo when it's replaced it is conceivable that the cable tightened up and damaged the drive gear.

    Really need to check the cable before asking further advice as I'm reasonably confident it will be frayed or snapped, that said, if it did need a speedo FWIW I'd put a speedo into the cluster if the rest of it's in good order

    From looking at the fiche, your cluster comes apart and allows access to the "nekkid" instruments.

    That being the case, a speedo transplant is totally do-able if you want to lose the 85mph silliness.
