Being a lover of small bikes, I had been watching these once KTM announced they were bringing them stateside. Sure enough, my local shop had some on the floor and I went to take a look. Fit me like a glove

Absolutely thrilled with it. Smooth, especially for a thumper, wind protection is non-existent but whatevs, and more than powerful enough to make safe passes on the freeway and blast around curved roads. I am super stoke, I haven't had a modern bike in a few years, and fact is I haven't had a brand new bike in my life. The newest bike I ever owned was a '04 Ducati ST3 which had been a dealer demo/loaner with about 1500 miles on it. This bike had 3. For that matter, I don't think I've ever bought a machine with so few miles on the clock.

Yeah, so many advantages to smaller bikes. lighter, more "flickable", less gas (as long as you don't drive like it wants you to drive it), cheaper insurance, ect. Love the color scheme. Not too over the top. Doesn't seem like it's too cramped, either. I'm pretty excited about those new CBR300s, but my back is mad at me just for looking. So is my wife.

Just met a guy down the street with a 690. They look fun to ride. I'm trying to get my buddy who's just getting into riding to get the 390 so I can take it for a spin. Cool bike.

Check your oil filter. They can collapse (for a number of reasons, including that PO guy) and leave you needing a top end rebuild.

Luckily the PO in this case was the factory, but it will be diligently maintained I can assure you.

I've read a dozen posts from owners on ADVRider who have fond collapsed oil filters at the first oil change from new. The problem seems to be an issue that may have nothing to do with how the filter is installed. The same problem has been found on BMW models that use the same type of oil filter. Just keep an eye out at every change. In between oil changes it's a good idea to ride the stink out of it ;)

Nice bike Hank! I know KTMs from the dirt world and they have always been top notch. Great looking ride.
