This weekend in Valencia will mark the last race for an in-line 4 in MotoGP
Yamaha are the last manufacturer using this configuration and their results are not good.
It seemed their cross-plane crank was all that was needed to make it feel like a V but somehow the V's grip much better on corner exit.
It still might be the fastest way around a road race track as Fabi Quatro has 5 poles in 2025.
If he's all alone on the track he can run his lap but when in the mix with the V4's he gets held up.
Yamaha are expected to run V4's for 2026.
In 2027 the rules go from 1000 cc's to 850, also the tires change from Michelin to Pirelli, will be interesting to see.
