    Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on my main jet seat of my 1981 Yamaha midnight maxim xj650 and need some advice on a replacement washer.

The washer measures that is currently on my bike

    • ID: 5 mm

    • OD: 12 mm

    • Thickness: 1 mm

I’m having a hard time sourcing that exact 5 mm ID locally, but I can easily find one with these specs on a Yamaha dealer not far from my place :

    • ID: 6 mm

    • OD: 12 mm

    • Thickness: 1 mm

Since the outside diameter and thickness are identical, do you think that extra 1 mm of clearance on the inside diameter will cause issues with the seal or seating of the jet? I want to make sure I won't run into fuel bypass issues or have it off-center enough to cause a problem.

Has anyone run a 6 mm ID washer in this spot before, or is it better to hold out for the exact 5 mm match?

    Thanks in advance

Is there a specific page that deals with the characteristics of the main fuel jet washer?

Also is it possible to put a brass washer?
